Server Setup In Depth.

The server setup is broken down into several color coded sections.
The Main Setup section.
The Main Setup section is primarily blue. It allows you to specify a name for your Chat.
As well as the address and ports others will use to connect to your Chat.
The address can be your IP addres, or a domain name style address.
The ports usually are 8080 and 8090, but can be any two unique ports.
At the far right is the Save Setup button which will save changes you make to the setup.
The Directory Setup section.
The Directory Setup section is purple. It allows you to specify a domain for the directory server to connect to.
As well as a URL to .jpg and .txt files on the web for your directory image and description.
The check boxes to the right of the purple text boxes further allow you to configure directory updating.
You can chose to have a notice appear in the server log whenever the server updates the directory.
Or you can specify that your server is a private server which means that it will not be listed in the directory.
You may specify that your server is for adults only which will allow users to filter it in the client's directory.
If you do not use a domain or dyndns, enabling Auto Detect IP Address makes the server attempt to detect your IP at startup.
The detected IP addess will be placed in the blue address box above and the directory will be updated with the IP address.
| To the right of the Directory Setup section is the Misc Setup Section. You may designate a Pin Prop for use on the server. And enable pages to be sent when a user signs on or signs off. |
The Security Setup section is Green colored.
It allows you to specify security levels (thresholds) and handles for several staff types.
The security levels are compared to an authenticated user's security level to determine what level of access they are allowed.
The Handles are what they are refered to by the server, you may customize these for added staff enjoyment.
If for the example above, a user had a security level of 120, they would be a moderator and have authoring priviledges.
If they had a security level of 99 they would be a hostess and have authoring priviledges.
